Event with Mace Morse

On Sunday, September 30 at 5:00 pm, Laguna Beach Books is pleased to welcome local author Mace Morse to the store. Mace will be discussing his new book, In Every Corner of This House. There is no charge for this event.

The evolution of a small town poet can be found in the recently published collection of poetry by local resident Mace Morse. Mace moved to Laguna Beach with his wife Virginia approximately thirty years ago after spending his formative years in San Luis Obispo. Steeped in Wordsworth, Swinburne, Patchen, Jeffers, and Bukowski, he now offers us a seasoned reflection of his own.

Loyalty, love, frailty, and hunger, all watched closely through the painted screens and darkening shadows of his cottage on the coast. A product of a working-class household in a prototypical suburban setting, Mace’s perspective is viewed through the lens of provincial, almost-predictable, middle-class life-cycle. A lifestyle idealized by postcard-like images of backyard barbecues and swimming pool parties
